Andy Cowell, who recently joined Aston Martin in October, 2024 as their new Chief Executive Officer, has now also stepped into the role of Team Principal, replacing Mike Krack, who has been the Team Principal since 2022. As CEO, Cowell has been at the center of many changes for the better within the Aston Martin team, including hiring Adrian Newey after the design expert left Red Bull Racing. Now, after a difficult 2024 season for the team, in which they finished 374 points behind Mercedes, Cowell has replaced Krack and is now both CEO and Team Principal. Krack has not left Aston Martin, except he was demoted to Chief Trackside Officer and will now focus on the on-track performance of their cars.
When asked about the change, Cowell replied, “I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I’ve been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment and hard work of this team. […] we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team […] and I’m incredibly excited about the future.”
As the days continue to count down until the cars first hit the race track, Aston Martin will be hoping to take their changes within and become a team that can fight for wins and championships.
