Antonelli Promoted Back to P4: Penalty Overturned

During the Australian Grand Prix, Andrea Kimi Antonelli was awarded a five-second time penalty after being released into Nico Hulkenberg’s path in the pit lane. The rookie Mercedes driver crossed the line in P4, but due to the penalty was classified one place down.

After the race, Mercedes petitioned for a “Right of Review” when the showed a video that was previously unavailable. After the new evidence was examined, it was found that Antonelli’s penalty should be removed, which meant the Italian could be promoted back up to P4.

Due to the promotion, Antonelli now took home two more championship points, as did the Silver Arrows. Williams position in the Championship, fourth, does not change even though Albon is now awarded 10 points rather than 12.
