Bearman Hit with Five-Second Penalty for Unsafe Release in Sprint Race

Ollie Bearman has been given five-second time penalties for an unsafe release during the exciting Sprint Race in Miami earlier today.

After Haas finished putting the slick tires on Bearman’s car, he was released into the pit-lane and directly into Nico Hulkenberg’s path. After investigation, the decision was made that a five-second penalty was the right consequence. This incident means that Bearman has dropped from P8 and subsequently lost the point he would’ve gained for himself and Haas.

Due to the penalty, Ollie’s final position in the Sprint Race is P14, while Yuki Tsundoa is promoted to P8 and will earn a single point for Red Bull.
