After the Grand Prix had ended, it was found the Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari weighed exactly 800 kg, which is the minimum weight required by the car weight section of the Technical Regulations (Article 4.1). That weight was increased to 800.5 kg after they retrieved the endplate that had fell off due to contact with his teammate. However, 2 liters of fuel were to be drained from the car as per the draining procedure of Ferrari. This dropped the car to 799 kg, which is below to minimum weight requirement. The incident meant that Leclerc was disqualified from the race, after having finished in fifth place.
That was already a disappointment to Ferrari, but later it was found that the rearmost skid on Lewis Hamilton’s car was below 9 mm thick: which is less than the minimum thickness required. The issue was reported to the stewards, and after the hearing it was announced that Hamilton would also be disqualified.
As a result, Esteban Ocon, Kimi Antonelli, Alex Albon, and Ollie Bearman are all promoted two places, which helps Haas move up into sixth in the Championship, after previously having 0 points.
