Liam Lawson has been a Red Bull reserve driver since 2022, and had been waiting the chance to prove he had what it took to become a full-time Formula One racer. The first time came in 2023, when AlphaTauri’s (now called Racing Bulls) driver Daniel Ricciardo broke his hand and Liam Lawson stepped in for five races that season. Unfortunately, the New Zealander did not intially get a full-time seat for 2024, but after Singapore in 2024, Ricciardo was out of the Racing Bulls seat for good, and Lawson jumped at the chance to take his place. This time around, after the season had ended, Liam Lawson was awarded the good news that he would be racing for Red Bull Racing in 2025; a shot that the young rookie has been anxiously awaiting for quite some time.
