Mighty Mclaren: Statistics of Mclaren’s Impressive 2024 Season

Mclaren have something huge to celebrate postseason; winning the Constructors’ championship! I’ve compiled a list of some of their most interesting and impressive stats about their season and their victory as a way to summarize Mclaren’s time on the track during 2024. Click on the arrows to read more details about each stat.

1 time Mclaren had a 1-2 finish

Though Mclaren as a team had many podiums and wins, only once did they manage a 1-2; at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Oscar Piastri executed a wonderful drive to his maiden Grand Prix win, and Lando Norris was right behind him after some late race drama.

1.9 was the time of their fastest pit-stop

This time was also the fastest of the season, though Red Bull ultimately got the title of achieving the quickest pit-stop, if only because they accomplished it earlier in the season. Nonetheless, this number is quite impressive, and was executed on Piastri’s Mclaren at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

6 wins in total

Both Mclaren drivers won their maiden Grands Prix this season, and after getting a taste of victory, they decided they would like some more. By the end of the season, Lando Norris stood on the top step 4 times, and Oscar Piastri twice.

7 fastest laps

Lando Norris won the DHL Fastest Lap Award for 2024 with an impressive tally of 6 fastest laps. However, Oscar wouldn’t be deprived of any after securing a fastest lap for himself at the Miami Grand Prix.

9 times Mclaren have now won the Championship

1974, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1998, and now 2024 are all the times Mclaren have earned the Constructors’ title in Formula One.

14 points separated Mclaren and Ferrari at the end of the season

Mclaren might have been the first to pass Red Bull in the Championship, but Ferrari was right behind them and the chase would go to the final Grand Prix of the season. Carlos Sainz  and Charles Leclerc both pushed their cars to get to second and third respectively, but Lando Norris had secured his spot up in first place, which, when the checkered flag was waved, meant that Mclaren had won the title; however close the battle had been.

26 years since Mclaren last won the title

Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard had been the drivers for Mclaren the last time the team had won the Constructors’ Championship in 1998. Now, 26 years have passed and Mclaren is back on top.

666 was Mclaren’s points total

Norris scored 374 points over the 24 rounds and Piastri raked in 292 to bring Mclaren’s total points haul for the 2024 season to 666 to beat Ferrari’s total of 652 and Red Bull’s 589.
