5 Reasons to Watch Drive to Survive Season Seven

The moment is almost here. Fans everywhere can tune into Netflix on March 7th and relive the dramatic 2024 season with some behind the scenes film. I, for one, will be bingeing the season across the upcoming weekend… and here’s five reasons that you should too.

  1. Driver Switches
    • There are six drivers on the grid for 2025 that are either rookies or haven’t completed a full season in F1. Season seven of Drive to Survive will not only cover how they came to join their respective teams, but also why they replaced who they did. Plus, there were also some driver changes in the middle of the season, like Ricciardo to Lawson and Sargeant to Colapinto, and some showings of super-subs, like Ollie Bearman, whose performance earned him a seat at Haas for this season. All in all, this aspect of the show will be interesting and entertaining as we get the inside stories from each switch.
  2. Hamilton’s Big Move
    • Yes, I just talked about driver switches, but I felt Lewis Hamilton deserved a section all to himself. After all, there’s still so much that could be uncovered about his shocking move to Ferrari. How long has it really been in discussion, when did Toto Wolff first catch wind of the rumor, and what ultimately made up the seven-time world champion’s mind? Hopefully Drive to Survive will dig deeper into the standout driver change of the season.
  3. Mclaren- Incredible Updates, First Wins and Papaya Rules
    • Mclaren didn’t come into the season looking like they would be world champs, and yet that’s exactly what they turned out to be. The major update to the car before Miami proved worthy and helped Lando Norris finally secure a maiden win. Of course, it wasn’t smooth sailing from there. Oscar Piastri also went on to win his first F1 Grand Prix, but there was some talk about the so-called “Papaya rules” floating around. The upcoming season should talk more about this and how crucial that update and ones that followed were for Mclaren’s season.
  4. The Fights in the Constructors’ Championship
    • I agree that the fight for first was incredibly thrilling when it came down to the final race, but we’re not just talking about the top. Alpine and Haas had some battles for sixth, and Alpine was only able to beat the American-based team after securing their two-three in Brazil. What brilliance led them to that result, and just how important was it? And we can’t forget about the struggles from the very bottom either, as Williams and Kick Sauber both seemed to be missing something during the 2024 season. Drive to Survive can illuminate everything said above and more concerning the Constructors’ Championship where Mclaren won for the first time in 26 years.
  5. The Battles of Max and Lando
    • These two were the top title contenders for 2024, and while we all know who ended up on top, there was no shortage of thrilling on-track battles between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. Whether it was a collision or a total of a twenty-second time penalty, they didn’t seem afraid to go wheel-to-wheel whenever the opportunity presented itself. That will certainly make for some exciting episodes of Drive to Survive Season Seven…
