George Russell: “All things considered it’s been a really good weekend.”

George Russell was able to make his way onto the podium for the first race of the season, and his rookie teammate Antonelli also was able to display the abilities of the 2025 Mercedes car. Russell seemed happy with the result, as he spoke about the race.

“It was a great race to come home in P3. And I want to say to Max and Lando, I think in race like that where you’re leading it’s probably going to be your worst nightmare but he did a great job, and also really well done to Kimi to come back to P5 which is a really impressive first race, […] and let’s see what we can do next week.”

As we all know, the condition in Australia were less than ideal this race weekend, and Russell commented, “It was good fun. I was quite enjoying it to be honest because I was hoping the two guys ahead would make a mistake and I could slip through,” the British driver admits, “but that just didn’t seem to be the case today. But really, really tricky. But that’s what F1’s about. I hope everyone enjoyed it at home.”

Russell concluded with a comment about the pace of the Mercedes, saying, “All things considered it’s been a really good weekend, we know McLaren are out in front at the moment, but this was a strong result.”
