Formula One has come to Shanghai, China for the second race of the season, in a weekend that will also include a sprint qualifying and race. Consequently, the drivers will only get one practice session, and Lando Norris set the fastest time during that session with a time of 1:31.504. It was a relatively calm hour on the track, even with a handful of drivers going wide in the hairpin as well as other corners. There was one red flag only 20 minutes to the end of the session after Jack Doohan reportedly had a issue with the power steering, after running off and coasting to a stop. However the green lights came on with 8 minutes left to go. All but five drivers put of the soft tires after this, and Norris, Leclerc, and Piastri battled it out for first, second, and third.
